Kitchen Trends of 2022

Kitchen Trends of 2022

The kitchen is the heart of the home. From cooking and preparing food, the area friends and family gather to socialise, dine and relax, and for some, serving as a spot to work from home. The kitchen needs to work hard to fit every purpose and given the amount of time spent in this room, it’s important to get the design right.

With each new year comes exciting developments in design. Here at Seymour Kitchens, we’ve come together to determine our list of the 2022 predicted kitchen trends. If any of these ideas have inspired you to begin designing your kitchen with Seymour Kitchens, get in touch with us on 01483 573 989 or email seymour@seymour-partners.co.uk. We look forward to hearing from you.

Mix & Match Cabinetry

Designing a unique kitchen which does not feel “off-the-shelf” is one of the biggest trends we are foreseeing to be prevalent in 2022. With the ability to mix and match cabinetry within a desired colour palette, using different materials to add texture and warmth, or giving attention to a feature of the kitchen by highlighting this in a different colour, the result will be something individual to you and your family.

Marble Effect Quartz Composites

Rather than using marble which is too porous to be used in the kitchen, we would use marble effect quartz composites which mimics marble perfectly to look luxurious, high end and stylish. With the ability to withstand passing trends, and with a hardwearing finish which pairs well with popular blue and green hues, this classic material is here to stay.

Statement Lighting

How you light your kitchen is fundamental to any kitchen design – from avoiding a space looking gloomy when dimly lit, to ensuring the lighting isn’t turned up too strong to create an uncomfortably bright room – getting it right is key. As well as controlling the brightness, thought through lighting can add further depth to your design and help to create spaces and focus. Consider hanging a light over the dining table which will draw everyone together or spotlighting on certain elements or areas to break up the space.

Kitchen Island Bespoke Designs

As kitchens get bigger and become even more used, the kitchen island has continued to be at the top of the list for new kitchen design. Inline with the desire to create something unique, the kitchen islands now come in many shapes and sizes, and with Seymour Kitchens, we can also create a bespoke design made with only your requirements in mind. From double kitchen islands with comfortable seating for plenty, to circular islands with dual levels and mixing materials, kitchen islands of all different designs will only get more popular in 2022.

Sustainability At The Heart

With all of us becoming more aware of the climate and wanting to do our bit to look after our beautiful planet, our kitchens have begun adapting. From specialised area set aside for recycling bins for different materials and considered purchasing of only A-rated appliances, to using responsibly sourced materials within the kitchen design, sustainability is set to be at the heart of kitchen design in 2022.

Drawer Appliances

Not a brand-new innovation, but drawer appliances have started increasing in popularity recently. With the ability to have a dishwasher, a fridge or a freezer within a drawer at a height suited to the user, they make it far easier find products and unload and load the dishwasher at a height to suit you.
